"HOPE"

What honor shone before the throne,
Hath dream cast to the Gods?
What magic hone of wing flapped drone
Hath there yet given odds?

What candid tone minced here, alone,
Yet stirs the soul within?
All candor thrown upon this stone,
Engraved, a mark of sin...

By what caprice, donned sweet release,
Dost thou bespeaketh me?
Hast thou by eyes of green gray skies
Laid siege Eternity?

What wrongs redressed hath lie caressed
To hold me to this truth?
Embittered frost upon the lost
Visions of catered youth.

Dream dipt folly, melancholy,
So surely thou dost bleed.
By Time adept, by soul inept,
To meet me in this need.

By bleakest dawn wherein upon
Hope flown hath found new wings...
Unto the sky by teary eye,
Now fly that Darkness sings.

Cradled by night, held ever tight,
In arms of riven trust.
If to hold dear in balk of fear,
This dream given to dust.

By starry night, by heaven bright,
Now dawns the day of laughter.
Lo, heed the cry, for this I'd die,
One kiss, here - ever after.

Let me be honest....
I didn't understand this one fully so I will read it again when others have replied that I can see how they interpret it and see if I can see what they can see.
Sorry about this.

Love and hugs,
Lizzie

What is this song thou hears alone,
That stirs the soul within...
To purchase lot upon the stone
Engraved the mark of sin?

I like the uplifting turn at the end of this beautifully wrought poem..

After all you've been through, dear...a day of laughter, no...a lifetime of laughter is due to you.  To be shared with whom you love, and who loves you so dearly in return.

May I never be too busy to help another's load,
Then I'll be drinking from the saucer 'cause my cup has overflowed.

you've written this reflection with a tenderness few might have found, Michael. Thank you.

Lyrically lovely, St. Michael...
me likes very much...
and yet...what is this recurring underlying theme of 'stone' that I have noticed of late?

Micheal,

You have an excellent way with archaic language...you bring it back to life with all of its romantic and medieval characteristics. I very much enjoyed this poem.

from someone who dreams of visiting her native Ireland, to see the gothic castles, and the tales filling the air even now, and to hear mist played at dawn, I love your poetry. When I am completely and utterly in despair I read yours, why? Michael, I don't know!! it makes me feel at home.
thank you for writing it.

ESP, hehe... I can be a bit obscure at times, I know.  Aprreciate your efforts though

Janet, Hope is a big part of who I am me thinks.  I would be nothing without it.

Nicole, Indeed, it's time. There is much joy to be shared where love is true.

Claire, and I thank you...

serenity - Hmmm... don't really know what's up with the "stone" thing... Probably just turning hard in my old age...  I'll give you a soft one here soon o.k.

warmhrt, It's nice to meet you - and I thank you kindly for your comments.  I love Middle English though I am not as polished in using it as I once was.  Who knows, maybe I'll start writing in this manner more often.

bobbycat, Quite the compliment there, my sincerest thanks.

Irish Rose, Ireland is a place I'd love to visit someday.  I am fascinated by the old castles and the scenery I've seen in pictures.  I am honored you find my poetry so soothing.

Thank you all for the kind replies,

Michael

I like it - I like it... You do well with internal rhyme, Michael.. It really adds a wonderful flow to your work.. and I like the final stanza best - hehe.. as I do in most of your work - because that's where you always put the "positive" verse.....

Incredible style and rhythm Michael ... your pen flows with the language of old, combined with ageless emotion.  Beautiful ...

If I were anyone but me, I do believe this would be a swoon-thumper ... LOL

Magnificent -- and in archaic language, to boot -- methinks I may have met my match, at least where olde englishe is concerned ...

In a word -- awesome, m'friend!  (whoops -- that's two ...)

Beautiful poem.  I especially loved this line.  "By starry night, by heaven bright,
Now dawns the day of laughter."  Most lovely.

Nan, LOL...on the one "positive" verse. TY for the compliments.

Kit, some emotion is ageless, indeed.

Femme, eh - better than what?

X-Angel, Knowing what a big fan of Shakespeare you are, I am smiling to know you enjoy my meager attempts.

Lizzie, glad you came back to it and found some beauty in it.

Corinne, much beauty lurks in darkness me thinks.

Kess, well this is my first official "swoon-thumper"...ROFL  Say it isn't so - you were actually impressed?

Jeffrey, you say you don't know how you missed it - I still wonder how so many of you found it...LOL  I didn't really think of much of this when I first posted it...

Love Bug, I'm so glad you enjoyed it...

Dawn Eclipse, Laughter to me is a gift from God - for those lucky enough to have received it.  That line is one of my favorites also.

Thank you all for the kind replies.
