The Sculptor

He took in hand some clay of little worth
And molded it a sphere with name of Earth
Then fired it in kiln of sunlight’s heat
To form a crust of dirt and rocks beneath

The Potter then dug out the ocean floor
And fashioned cliffs of white along the shore
Rolling hills, majestic mountain chains
A Sugarloaf and rocks that had no names

He ground up slabs of granite, quartz and lime
And poured them through a sieve to make them fine
Then sprinkled sands in dessert, sea and shore
Where waves would lap their edges ever more

He carved out canyons, hollowed river bed
Which from the reservoirs of springs were fed
The rains came down and joined swift falling flows
And waters from the mountain’s thawing snows

The Potter then with paint-filled Artist brush
Imbued the crimson rose’s petal plush
He colored valley’s grassy field with green
Then blued the sea and pinkened dogwood tree

With Sculptor hand and perfect Artist eye
He placed the sphere into the evening sky
With extra clay that He had not consumed
The virgin Earth begot an opal moon

We marvel at the splendors that we see
The Sculptor whispers softly - Let it be

Liz, this is a delightful poem! I could just picture everything you described in it. Another wonderful poem from the hand and heart of someone quite remarkable!

Love and hugs,
Lizzie

Liz, this is another work of art. Yes, it's amazing to see what the Creator has done... you did a great job of describing it.
