Tranquillity (For Lizzie) She rides through the wind on the back of a mare Behind her the sun and the flow of her hair She follows the trail like the palm of her hand The horse knows her every whim and command The two march as one on the highway of life They both have forgotten the notion of strife For they go to a place where tranquillity lives In South African backland where God freely gives He gives her the beauty of morn’s early haze And the spaces of field where Impalas still graze Her mare knows the Warthog in care of its own The undisturbed beast turns and leaves them alone And alone they continue in pleasure filled plod Surrounded by nature and glory of God The beast of the field and the bird of the sky And the hoof of the mare are their sweet lullaby Tranquillity lives in the soul of God’s child As she rides on a mare in South Africa’s wild Elizabeth Santos [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (edited 04-27-2000).] |

Liz, I tried your email again to reply the one you sent me but it still won't work for me. So, I will use this thread as a means of communication!! Dear Liz, Reading all your poems, the pleasure is all mine!! You do write so beautifully! Every poem I have read has captured my heart and soul in some way. I do hope your husband's surgery is a success, I will pray for him with all my heart. Thank you again for the lilac poem you wrote me, I can't tell you how much it means to me!
