Author's Note:  I wrote this one quite awhile ago.  But, I've got the blues today, so I feel like posting it.

     Got a Light?

Does anyone have a light?
You see, my cigarette's gone out.
I used my last match lighting it;
And, now, I'm left without.
I'm counting on the nicotine
To calm my troubled brain.
Can anybody spare a light,
To help me ease my pain?

Does anyone have a light?
It seems my will to live's been snuffed.
My hopes and dreams once fueled the fire;
But, now, they're not enough.
For, dark despair has doused the flame
Of courage, in my heart.
Can someone spare a little light,
To lead me through the dark?

sweetchild - thank you!  I'm glad you liked it!

Denise - yeah, I think we've all been there at one time or another.  I just keep reminding myself of one of my Dad's favorite sayings - "In a hundred years, it won't make a bit of difference!"  Glad you could relate, my friend!

Thanks again for all your kind words!

Troy~
A little sorrow
A little pain
A little sunshine
A little rain
A little light
to make your day
Sending RAINBOWS
lighting your way

Troy, call it coincidence, call it kismet...just as I opened your post and began to read, "Someday Soon" began to play. (I'm having a CSNY kind of day) Here is what Graham Nash would tell you ~

"Someday soon you will see by the light of day
that someday soon all your worries will fade away
Keep holding on to the love that has made you strong
and someday soon heartache will all be gone

Someday soon I hope good things come to you
and someday soon hope your wishes all come true
Keep holding on to the love that has brought you here
and someday soon darkness will disappear

When life's too hard to bear for you to take it
have faith in what you do
You've got to tell yourself
that you can make it through

Someday soon you will get to be your best
and someday soon you will finally get some rest
Keep holding on to the love that came your way
and someday soon shadows will fall away"

Since Graham is, perhaps, otherwise engaged, I will tell you, my friend...

Someday soon, Troy... (((you)))

Chris - thank you for your kind words!  And you are most welcome for digging it up.  I really needed to post this, as it reflects my mood - and I am amazed and honored that so many gentle souls have responded!

Claire - {{{HUGS}}} back!  Thank you so much for sharing this wisdom!  I am a big CSNY fan, myself.    It's been kind-of a rough week, but tomorrow's another day!

Sending a light and praise of a well written poem from you.  Through your work you have a chance to release it so that it does not hold you but you in turn hold it...in order to be free from it on your terms.

Seymour - thanks a bunch!

Butterflies - thanks for the light - that's quite a bonfire!  And your comments are SOOO true, in regard to poetry being a wonderful form of release.  It's always good therapy for me!

Thank you all for your thoughtful and caring comments - you have helped me to "lose my blues!"
