state of confusion

note:  wrote this after reading about Jack The Ripper, although in reality he was never caught.

Dancing Bear

Dancing Bear shadows her way,
Echoing footsteps close behind
She turns, slow motion, calling blind
Cobbled stones slow her getaway

Sinless girl; sweet son gone sour
London fog cloaks hatred’s musk,
In doorways he hides until dusk,
Unclean hands seize, overpower

Jostling, wrestling on velar ground
Gasping, thrashing her body about
Demeaning her, he comes with a shout
Glinting knife pricks, prayers resound

Rains rapes the sounds of hooves
Gas lamps on dim shapes shine
Sweat of fear tastes of altar wine
Dismount, men in clashing moves

Dancing Bear’s game now lost,
On chestnut horse they ride
She is broken, barely alive,
Ripper finally pays the cost.

very well written! i like it a lot. i find writing a poem about somethin i've not felt hard, but you capture the terror of the London night very well. i thought of Tim Burton after i read this... maybe i'm just weird...=)

We all got somethin' to atone for.

Thank you, Parker, yes, reading about him was quite chilling, to say the least.

Thank you, Ethan, I take that as a compliment, I love Tim Burton, just saw "Sleepy Hollow."

Hehe, Marge - don't look under the bed!
