The Bed is Where the Heart is (dumb title i know) |

I work at night She works by day The bed lays heart broken We brush by once And share a kiss “I Love You’s” quickly spoken The bed is like a locket She has but half the heart The one that I am missing When we must be apart When I lay for sleep through the day Yes, I have more room to sprawl My legs still hang from the sides And my head bangs off the wall So often while fitful napping The phone rings so I awake I answer as if I’m at work And her giggles I cannot take I let go of the pillow Drink in the sound of her voice She’s found time to talk to me I tell her how I rejoice And when she says that she must go I exhale with such a force I say goodbye breathlessly So the butterflies run their course Fitful sleeping begets dreaming I dream soon a time that when The moon will shine on both of us One soul will share this bed again [This message has been edited by wayoutwalt (edited 06-06-2000).] |
