The lone wolf sits silently in the forest
Waiting patiently for the moon to crest
The wind whispers to her through the trees
Wonder what it is her yellow eyes see
She lowers her head to the ground
Trying to decipher the sound
Coming through the darkness now
She'll find it somewhere somehow

It is a whimpering in the distance
That puts her in a trance
Tentatively she starts to walk
She hears a yelp and slightly balks
Out of the forest and through the stream
Which eerily reflects the moon's beams
Now she is near the mouth of the cave
Anxiety hits her in a sudden wave

A young wolf is trapped inside
Thought it would be a good place to hide
The lone wolf investigates the scene
With a calmness that's so serene
She frees the pup's leg from between the rocks
Time to sit back and take stock
The pup limps slightly but he'll be fine
Next time he'll have his time to shine

LoneWolf~
You would have known that this one would be loved by me.  It is tenderly done.

I enjoyed the attention to the detail of the wolf caring for her own ... instinct.

Symbolic of the fact that man doesn't take care of the wolf ... so goodness knows they need to do it themselves.
Thanks for sharing this poignant piece.

Excellent story LW, shows how we always try to help and encourage those that we know. . . and that we don't know. . .

Wonderful my friend. . .
