Conquistador

Under the same old yellow moon,
Hues are painted differently,
June’s identical shooting stars,
Through sky-blue Irises beholden,
Beauty blooming in all you see.

Shrouded in cloaks of velvet mystery,
Whether crossing virginal desert sands,
Sailing stormy seas, upon wooden ships
To emerald lands, returning home,
holding victory in bloodied hands.

The wonders of nature all bow,
Before your sure stalwart stance,
The yarrow dance, Yucca stilled,
Songs of rivers, muddy and wild,
endow the spirit favored by chance.

Good descriptions.  The imagery is powerful...bloodied hands contrasts the conquerer against the more gentle horizons and settings.

Corinne, this one writes, right into my adventureous soul. Adventure I seem to only get in poetry lately, thank you for you wonderful pen. I must now dream of travels and wonders, and the Ocean, which draws to me. In July I will be on the shores of Oak Island... the infamous Treasure Island (and their still looking for the treasure). So shall I....

Corinne, this is marvelous imagery, powerful expressions,

Really liked this one,
Regards, sudhir.

Hey you, out there in the cold,
Getting lonely, getting old, can you feel me?
Hey you, standing in the aisle,
With itchy feet and fading smile, can you feel me?
Hey you, don't help them to bury the light.
Don't give in without a fight.
Hey you, out there on your own,
Sitting naked by the phone, would you touch me?
Hey you, with your ear against the wall,
Waiting for someone to call out, would you touch me?
Hey you, would you help me to carry the stone?
Open your heart, I'm coming home....

Corinne~
What a jewel ...
Always such a delightful pleasure
to read your thoughts.

'The wonders of nature all bow,
Before your sure stalwart stance,
The yarrow dance, Yucca stilled,
Songs of rivers, muddy and wild,
endow the spirit favored by chance.'

Wonderous !

Corinne - such a complex style!  I enjoyed it - I even read it more than once (careful, Long John, or she'll figure it out that you were too slow the first time thru).  I love your poetry.  My favorite is still the one you wrote last year that ended with, "Darlin', if you only knew."  I could use a repost of that one.

Parker - arggh - ye be comin' to me island will ye - jes remember what I always says to dems that disturb me little treasure and gets caught:  "Dem's dat dies'll be the lucky wannnns."
