Toerag's my friend, so I shouldn't tell
This sad story of his boat, but, WTH
If I don't tell the story here,
It will be told by Balladeer.

And so in pity for my good friend,
I'll tell the story through to the end,
Of why he avoids the sailing life
And sticks to landlocked days of strife.

Toe bought an inboard with outboard props,
And at the nearest lake he stopped,
And slid "The Lorelei" into the water,
(Gawd, he was happy that he bought her!).

He gave her the gas and off he sped,
But 5 knots was IT from his foot of lead.
She wouldn't plane, she sat real low,
No matter how he tried to make her go.

He plowed up one shore, then down the other,
A constant oath was all he uttered.
He lumbered back to the Marina dock,
Hign on beer, but deep in shock.

The mechanic checked his boat stem to stern,
Then dived beneath to see what he could learn,
He came back up with wasted breath,
After nearly choking himself to death.

"Mr. Toe," the mechanic inquired,
"How many blondes have you sired?"
"May I suggest if you sail her more,
You leave the boat trailer on the shore!"

Hey!  Toerag, you old reprobate - come and get it!  Lol

thanks, Kit - I'm just getting back into writing after a long spell of heavy work and other things - I hope that scalawag Toerag shows up to reminisce about his sailing days.

I just wanna know why it's the "Lorelei"?

One minute I am the subject of a sweet romantic poem, the next I am a boat???
and unless he left me after lunch and went drinking...he is supposed to be sober..LOL

Toerag!  You old scalawag - where are ya?  It isn't like you to meekly roll over and admit defeat (although its usually assumed by everybody else).

Lorelie,
You're a boat because you've been christened with champaign, seduced into the dark waters, ridden on rocky waves, drifted on the starlit crests, and layed gently in the  calm of quiet bliss.
Til Toe came along and rocked the boat!
Dump him overboard and get back to romance!

You're so right, LongJohn. Toe's a crock!
He shouldn't ever leave the dock!
One doesn't need to be a sailor
To know you must unhook the trailer
Too bad he went down on Lorelei...
It's enough to make a grown man cry!!
