state of confusion

The Mantra

In the strangeness of it all I falter,
I see nothing here familiar,
my bone collection of the unknown.

Losing my sense of bearing
has been an inherent problem,
in dreams I fail and flounder.

Piercing through, a reassuring voice,
strains above the hullabaloo,
and raucous way of faking busyness.

Pretending all is in apple-pie order,
smiling for those who look concerned,
my choices made, my bed now laid.

The voice is sometimes quiet and kind,
then chides me like a naughty child,
dealt like a slap, it says, “deal with it.”

The tune I know, unforgettable hook,
Takes a bite of me, but means no harm,
this tinkling wind chime of reminders.

So chant your tune from afar,
whoever you are,
you are.

Corinne, another interesting piece. You are your own Mantra voice, you are.
I hear voices too, often I ignor them, today
they tell me to kill the thesaurus, and I really want to... listen to those voices.
Maybe soon if I try to write one of those again.
Anyway, back to sanity, I loved your poem, like you haven't heard that befor from me as always.

Parker.....

quiz..... what 60's movie was the Mantra in and what was it.

this is awesome, Corinne

I picked up on that last stanza, too, Marge....and the 1st and the 4th and the 6th and...

time for another oldie?

                Chant

In plain sight, and yet it's hiding -
love with life in tandem striding -
swirling magic always gliding
with the ease of hawks in flight.

In the fullness of time, love is ours.
In the fullness of time, life is whole.
In the fullness of time, we lose fears.
In the fullness of time, we touch souls.

Like beads, precious, we are stringing
fears to fears, and to them clinging;
in our blindness, we are singing
of our love of life and light.

But, in the fullness of time
                                we will learn
in the fullness of time
                                dark and light
in the fullness of time
                                death and birth
in the fullness of time
                                all unite.

In plain sight, and yet it's hiding -
death with life in tandem striding -
swirling shadows always gliding
with the ease of hawks in flight.

In the fullness of time, death is ours.
In the fullness of time, life is whole.
In the fullness of time, we lose fears.
In the fullness of time, we touch souls.
