Only Thought Waves Apart (For Mother's Day)

Mother's day comes and goes over the years
when I chose to think it just brought me tears.
All I missed that friends shared with their mom's
God needed you in heaven to read the psalms,
at least that's the way I believed it should be.
I was only ten when you were taken from me
a mere child unaware of her future needs
and lost in a world with so many evil deeds.

I always prayed you were carefully watching
and that our hearts could always be attaching.
I know now that I have your sweet caring heart
through it now we are only thought waves apart.
I'm a reflection of your soul left here to carry on
I hope I've stayed within reason not overdrawn.
I've never thought this hard about Mother's Day
but this year I love you, is what I need to say.

Gloria, this is perfect! This is my absolute favourite of your poetry that I have read so far. I can feel your love for your angel mother so strongly. It is a wonderful poem and thank you for sharing it. It really touched me very deeply.

Love and hugs,
Lizzie

Gloria, this is so touching. I was a little bit older (18) when my mother passed away. I guess it is not easy at any age but more devastating when so young. My brother was almost 10 at the time. This is a lovely tribute to your mom. I'm sure she loves it and is smiling down on you!

I'm so very, very sorry.  I can't imagine growing up without a mother, and then spending an entire adulthood without one.  My heart goes out to you.  Well written poem.
