I Don't Want to be a Nag

All my life I have wanted
a man to stand by my side
never wanted to be a naggin'
ne'er wanted to be a pain

I come a loyal bundle
my family and love I will defend
But, don't do extra housework
nor clothes do I mend

Often wondered if men
believe that women are
their personal valet -
ne'er seen such babies
as men getting ready for work
ne'er seen such helplessness'
as men that can't cook

Each of my sons have been
taught to cook, sew and clean
and hopefully their wives
will be forever grateful to me

ne'er had a man who
picked up after himself,
oh, sure the first few months,
then it starts again
no ne'er wanted to be a naggin'
but it happened to me again

I don't lie when we first meet
I tell them I will not fall at their feet
I will not be an adoring puppy with
their wish at my command
but will be their loyal companion
and very good friend

But still they decide to
come along and fall in love
with me ----and I wonder with
all the women in the world
that they could choose,
why in the world do they pick me?

I don't walk on eggs,
or tip toe with what I say
I want a man who is my
partner - not a baby
in disguise -
And if he wants my faithful
love and a wife who is very wise
he best share with me things that
are happening in his life

Yet, still I end up unhappy
and find I have chosen wrong
and so in life, I take each day
one day at a time - ne'er a tear
for love have I shed --
My heart's been shut for a long, long time

ne'er met that one true love
that we are supposed to find
though I know he's out there
I am learning I don't really care
cuz, I have enough work to do
and more if he is here

All the arrows can't touch me
all the lies and deceit are gone
I love to be alone writing
all 'bout love's siren songs
and once in awhile I hear a song
"I am a man who does my own laundry,
do you wanna come along?"

And, darn if I don't get fooled again,
to that yearning of love's heart's song

LOL Lone Wolf they are out there.
Truly ---ones that will help shoulder some
responsibility -- men grown that don't have
their shoes in the middle of the floor and
after an eight hour work day is snoring on
the couch, while you, have worked all day
and come home to
cook, clean, scrub - take care of the kids
and then he is too tired for a tossle
in the hay ------  OUT I say ---LOL

Teresa - I love this one!  Jeffrey's right, though...there aren't many of us out there.  Too bad I'm happily married, LOL!  But, I guess that wouldn't matter, cuz siblings can't marry anyway.  Thanks for another wonderful piece, Sister!  {{{HUGS}}}

netswan,
I like this one.  'tis best to be honest.  But you know, I have learned to like to live by myself.  Of course I do cook, and I have laundry going on right now...but I have to do it myself dear!  (LOL)

Lots of truth in them lines...I enjoyed reading your thoughts on that subject...I can understand why women would nag...or become dissolutioned or frustrated.  James

None of us like to be nags, but what's a woman to do?! LOL....seriously, I was fortunate to have found someone who does know how to take care of himself.....and usually does!!
