Lessons on the Lawn

The lawn was verdant spring
and it bloomed for me, I thought,
in my misconceived bigness,
for so many feet moved by
but when I questioned seasons,
they focused on ahead
or looked down for sureness, as I stumbled
and blundered my way across the map
wondering and asking if anyone else
saw all this color.

So many names were offered for me,
so odd and her head is in the clouds,
were two, so I took to smiling and living
behind my face dreaming green dreams
as winter stormed around me
casting its shadow in bronzed display
on the portico of my mind.

I was sure that love in a blooming fury
would catch me up with grazing in delight
and save me from all this chaos,
and that I could just capture some forever
with a curve of hip and meaningful glance,
then I danced on my own shadow and felt the pain
of being too small to open for another.

The dark beget so many tears
that I was forced from undercover
and that was when I saw my blunder
glaring at me beneath its reality,
where there was so much to take in

that my smallness grew.

Martie~
Every 'gem' from you is like a
new blossom opening.

Blooming with fragrance that I've
never imagined before.  You simply
take me places I've never been ...
and the echo plays it all for me to
enjoy over and over.

If ever a poet was original and unique ...
it is you.  My how you shine in your
meanderings through life.

'then I danced on my own shadow
and felt the pain
of being too small to open for another.'

Exquisite, dear poetess.

Martie,

Psychedelic, you might try some 3D glasses. I've noticed when I can't see what's going on down there that these can really help. One time I forgot to take them off, man did I get lost. (I would've thought this was a challenge..?)

If I could paint a portrait, of this life in which I've led, and somehow sketch a story, of the visions in my head, I'd start out with a canvas, stretched tightly in a frame, and in the bottom corner, I'd leave room to sign my name. (Michelle A. Bartley)

'of being too small to open for another' and
'that my smallness grew' These are my most favorite lines out of all the fabulous lines in your poem! I think I have a new favorite poem of yours, Martie!

Martie,
I will have to echo right along after Marge and Denise (and Lucky with his glasses...cool stuff!) in saying this is beautiful, original, and brilliant. Your delicate words take the reader tenderly by the poetic hand for a tour of the special place that is your heart.
