Green World

All night the stars passed overhead.
The moon arose, then went to bed
And all the creatures of the night,
Explored their world, on land, in flight
And as the dark gave way to dawn,
I rose and stretched and with a yawn,
Pulled back the drapes so I might see
The kind of day awaiting me.

The faintest colors flushed the sky.
Some early-rising birds flew by.
Out on the lawn, I saw a doe,
With dainty, dappled fawn in tow
And as they disappeared from sight
They flicked their tails; a flash of white.
I heard a squirrel and saw a jay.
Gifts of nature on display.
I couldn't wait to go explore
This fresh, green world, outside my door!

masterful meter and rhyme Betty... You put the reader there at the window with you.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

Joyce:  Thanks for your remarks.  sorry it's so cold and wet this year for your tulip festival.  Imagine not all of the flowers are open either.  I walked around our yard yesterday, checking out the flooding creeks and found one lone daffodil in bloom!  What a cheery sight!

Magnificent poetry, as always!

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.
