Where Poppies Grow

The forest yields it's floor to spring.
Melodic birds begin to sing.
The snow plant rises from it's bed.
The bell-shaped flowers, startling red
And leafless, lustrous, candystick,
Like peppermint that you can pick.
In open places, near the sea,
The pink azalea likes to be.
Where ferns and salal can be found,
The baby-blue-eyes hugs the ground.
There are so many flowers here
To lift our spirits and to cheer.
But where the bright, orange poppies grow
Upon the hills, it's here I know,
The beauty in my mind will stay
Long after blooms have died away!

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

Ah, Betty; this sent my imagination on a dance through those flowery fields! Thanks for the waltz! Hugs, Ellie

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.

pegasus111:  Thanks for your remarks.  I'm really anticipating spring with this one, as it's not in sight here yet!
