The Sound of Water

After I have gone to bed,
The sound of water fills my head.
The open window brings to me
A creek engendered symphony!
But more than that, a tale to tell
Of where it got its start, as well.
High in the hills, there is its source,
Though it must start out small, of course,
It gathers trickles on the way
To swell it to this stream today.
Creates a wetlands near to us,
Where otters stare at us and fuss,
Because their solitude we dare
To invade, but they must share!
Breaking from that tangled place,
It once again begins to race.
Defining banks, with deep pools where
It passes by the houses there.
Soon it will merge so easily
With larger streams and they will be
Absorbed by rivers, evermore,
Committed to the western shore.
While listening to this yarn it spins,
My trip to dreamland then begins!

You are so one with nature, Betty.  This is a wonderful description of your creek and its source.  Joyce

I so love your nature yarns spun in rhyme.Well done.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

Dear Betty Lou

How wonderful that you can hear your creek flow at night!  So soothing to listen to before you reach the land of nod!

Your poetic descriptions of nature are absolutely magnificent!

Love Verbena xo

Dear Verbena:

It is wonderful to have that lovely water sound to listen to at night. I seldom hear it in the daytime, unless I walk down there. Too much going on I guess! Thanks.

Love
Betty Lou
