Last Gasp

Jealous Winter clinging to
All the days that are his due;
Shouting back to coming Spring,
"It's not time to do your thing."

Winter brings a final blast
Before all his days have past;
With the wind and rain and snow.
He's reveling in lusty blow.

Spring is waiting in the wings,
Allowing Winter's final binge;
Loitering with gentle breeze
To thaw the last of Winter's freeze.

March Twentieth is marked in red
To give Spring the go ahead
To bring warmth and birds and flowers.
I wait with her and count the hours.

(Winter chased me from my home last night with gusts of wind that blew down power lines.I am very eager to see the last of him.)

Joyce~
I would wish you early Spring
to give your words poetic wing
that you will share each and every day
when flowers peek their heads
from amongst their winter beds
and shout out with a big HOORAY !

Dear Joyce:

I'm sorry you were chased out of your home last night by a winter storm and hope everything is all right at your place. The weather has been very unpredictable here too, with snow and high winds. Sunny today however. Liked your poem.

Love

The sun is shining here today also, but it is cold.  I found a sheltered spot to work digging weeds for a bit.  Flowers are coming, winter or no. Joyce

nice read Joyce. no winter in Fla though..

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost
