I feel kindred to this tree.
It stands solitary
among the wild grasses,
dainty and delicate,
a painting in progress.

Its loneliness calls out to me.
I am akin to its solitude,
as the summer breeze beckons
us both, weary spirits aching
for reprieve, fleeting it may be.

This is too lovely to be so retiring.  Have pity on my aging eyes.  Love, Joyce

jjote:  I really liked your poem. I too, feel an afinity to trees. There is something ageless about them.

This is a beautiful piece.. when I saw this title, this was the last thing I expected.. but it was a lovely surprise. It's amazing what kind of connections we can make with nature. THanks for sharing!

Love's a lovely lad
His bringing up is beauty
Who loves him not is mad
For I must pay him duty

Thanks all for reading.
Trees are my favorite things to take a photo - and they can be such inspiring subjects for a poem.
