winter is coming

i can feel it

soon there will be snowflakes

on my tongue

i'll lap them up dramatically

just as i did when I was young

some shun the cold and snow

some curse the winter wind

but I crave the solstice frost

and in the darkness I begin

for I was born on solstice night

a darkling child of the snow

and though my desitny not fully me

the desires in me grow

to sweep the world in forst and snow

to make it shine in icy hand

to cover all the world with cold light

with the North wind in my hands...

i feel alive again its true...

as i smell snow upon the air

and long to find her in my arms...

my lover and my friend

winter....burns within my heart

its holy purifying fire

no mercy in its ice filled love

no compassion in her ire

but i shall meet the winter

with my arms held open wide

and we shall march through another season

hand in hand

and side by side...

" and I dream of her always,
even when I don't dream.
her name's on my tongue
and her blood's in my stream."

I like this...it's very vibrant and vivid. Like a painting with strong colours and powerful brushstrokes. If that makes any sense. *Climbs back into the loony bin*

I enjoyed your poem.  Brought back memories of catching snowflakes and also a very painful one of trying to lick frost off of a wagon wheel when I was about 5 years old.
Of course my tongue stuck to the metal and when I jerked away all of the skin went too!
OUCH!

I'm a hothouse child but I can feel your enthusiasm for the ice and snow.  Very vivid.  Joyce

You capture winter very well and it seems your not to bad at capturing snow flakes as well. I really enjoyed the feel of your poem. Thanks for sharing some memories. -Bob

Beautifully done, Sol! I'd personally rather be in Florida and never see another snow flake again, but I can appreciate others' love for it.

Loving it Sol   I don't know that I'd compare your inner fire to the icy cold of winters though...

*hugs*
