Fame and Notoriety

Martha and Michael and Colby
Have each been in the news
With some dreadful notoriety
That none of them would choose.
I am really feeling sorry
For these benighted folks
Who have been sorely subjected
To late night feeble jokes.

I wonder why so many like
To laugh at other's woes,
Whether guilty or innocent
At this time no one knows.
If Michael is found guilty of
The dreadful things they say,
He then must suffer consequence,
Be safely shut away.

Colby admits he's guilty of
Betraying his sweet wife;
Other charges not yet proven
Have changed his happy life.
Martha's charge of imperfecton
Is too sad to discuss.
If the perfect are not perfect,
What of the rest of us?

We have heard it so many times,
Money does not bring bliss.
I'd rather be a pauper than
To be accused like this.

Joyce;  I'm with you!  I can't imagine what it would be like to be in the shoes of any of these three!  Well written poem!

Thanks for this neat poem, Joyce. I don't like people being the butt of other people's jokes. I think the people who laugh at these jokes are just as bad.  I know I should clean up my own backyard before making judgments, but I think this
poem is a well written lesson in character development. Again, I always enjoy your writing. Love, Barb

(big angel hugs) My philosophy is a joke isn't a joke unless it is funny and fun-loving for everyone! (sigh) I have to admit often my dad would laugh at those kind of jokes and I just keep quiet and while I'll let him laugj, I just don't understand the humor to it! (sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Joyce, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!
