One Dog Day~

The dog  whimpers not
because it is hungry or
because it has been beaten.

The dog whimpers
because its master has died:
a dog’s death.

Slipperless.
Newspaperless.

No more staring at a fuzzy TV.
     No more slurping whiskey.
No more staggering for the leash.
No more scratching of private parts.
No more waiting for it all to end.

Grover~
Sad little piece ... but I did have to smile at your title ... as each morning I step outside to be greeted by my pups - I always say, "Well, I am blessed, it's a two dog day."
Enjoyed the read~

(big angel hugs) Oh Grover, my heart goes out to you, dearest friend, I know just how you feel as I've lost two kittys as a little boy and a canary and pets always bring more comfort and companionship to my heart, God Bless You, I send compassionate hugs your way, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Grover, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

This is indeed a tragic piece, and highly original. Being a pet lover I feel for the dog...and the man! It's a shame they had to be parted. Great poem!
