Moonlight in the Morning

It's early hours, but still dark.
The sun has not yet struck a spark
From rockly ramparts, rising high,
A blackened mass against the sky.
Except for silvery fingered streaks
Of moonlight on the highest peaks
And there is music in the breeze,
Made up of eerie harmonies.
The moon is sinking in the west.
I like this haunting moment best.
When the day is just a-borning.
Blessed by moonlight in the morning.

Dear Betty.  What an early riser you are.  Too bad I can't see East unless I go out on the hiway because of my buildings and trees.  I can't see the western sky too well either if the moon is low because of trees and besides that I don't get up as early as you must.  Love, Joyce

Joyce:  I get up at 4:30 every morning as my son needs his first dose of medicine then. I always let the dogs out and go stand outside for a few minutes.  Our front door faces the hills to the east.  It'a a lovely time of day, but I don't stay up.  Back to bed until 8:00 a.m.!

I too enjoy the early mornings' moonlight, the shadows, and the big face wearing a smile...

Wonderful rhyme and meter... I really like the music that I hear in the read. I especially love the ingenious rhyme force in the 'a-borning' and 'morning'. Fantastic!! Clever!! Absolutely punny! :-) Good Job.
