Immortality

The little chores I have to do
Important only in my view.
The world would be as sad or fun
If I were gone, my chores undone.
When all the other lives I touch
Are past, there'll not be very much
To make the world aware that I
Was here to live, to love, to die.

My design this, to write a line
That could be uncommonly mine;
A line that might survive the life
I spent as simple mom and wife.
When all is gone, my life, my home,
If there in some old dusty tome
A single rhyme of mine is found,
A bit of me is still around.

That's our Joyce...

you've no idea how I go back
and read our deceased members poems.
I find such comfort in such an act.

Thank you, Joyce,
for leaving a bit of yourself
here with us.

Dear Joyce:  This says so much!  I guess most of us who are growing older, and write poetry or stories, hope something will remain when we're gone, that will be everlasting!  At least within our families if no where else.

(smiles) Oh Joyce, that is exactly why I write, sweet friend, because it's not just helping myself, but I can also give my children something to cherish and sing along with me in spirit with, yay! (kiss on cheek) You've already given the world so much, sweet friend, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Joyce, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

you better not go anywhere, I don't have that many friends that write as well as you... funny, I was just thinking along those lines today myself and I recalled a piece I wrote some time ago. Great minds think alike..lol

Greetings, Joyce!

This is truly beautiful.

It reminds me of what Shakespeare said in Sonnet XVIII -

"But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st,
Nor shall death brag thou wander'st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou grow'st,
So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee."

This work: 'Immortality' is already well on its way to 'giving life to thee' and because you have written it and given it wings to fly the 'simple mom and wife' POETESS will always be present.

Cordially,

Castlehigh of Éire

Goodness,Joyce...how do you do that? You take a single word...and then make it your own.For a poet(songwriter, artist, etc.),this beautiful offering you give has incredible weight of meaning.I believe that this most definitely is one of all of our hopes. It is so easy to feel insignificant and small, especially in a world that seems to grow bigger every day.But believe me,Joyce, when I say you will be always loved and remembered.Your heart shines through your writing...and that is something that is not easy to forget.
