What useful purpose can be found,
in serving the master of the past?
Is life so drab and dull today,
that we must seek yesterday?

Yesterday served those now gone.
Should we relive their hate,
making it our burden today?
Do we not have sufficient cause
to fear the plate now offered?

Those among you that desire
the heavy cross of yesterday,
and cling to it as a treasure,
will surely miss the beauty of today.

Caste aside these useless concerns,
for though you strive mightly,
and beat the memory drum slowly,
not one iota of the past will change.

As you now live, the past is dead.
Bury it for all time in your mind.
Build instead a better world today.
For today is fleeting and impatient
to become decaying yesterday.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

You are so right.  Yesterday is gone tomorrow may not come.  We only have today.  Joyce

This is a good reminder that we should make each day count for all it can!

There is no past, no future only the present.
A reminder we all need for time to time, well written. Enjoyed this alot.

I believe in yesterday, today and tomorrow, and that you don't have to deny one to enjoy the other, but I enjoyed this as well, thanks

I do not live in yesterday
but remember it fondly.
There are times when moving on
is hard, for one always fears
the thing which they don't know.
Nicely done.
