Sleep then if you must
close your weary eyes
one last time my love
although my heart aches
I will try to understand

Sleep the peaceful sleep
the journey has been long
and precious for us both
I long to be where you are
to hold you once again

Sleep deeply my love sleep
dream sweet eternal dreams
our hearts are forever bound
our souls are joined as one
beyond this wasted flesh

Sleep my love and wait patiently
for the one who lags behind
each breath speaks your name
these lonely eyes see only you
I will come to you soon my love.

pegasus111:  It is good to see a post from you, as it's been a long time since I have, here on Corner Pub.  Maybe you have been posting other places?

This is so sorrowful, it makes me sad along with you! Hope for more poems, pehaps in a happier vein?

This piece was written as a tribute to the love shared by my mother and father. He passed away recently. They were married 68 years. Until they are united again....

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

Dear friend pegasus111.  I am so excited to see you are back.  I was afraid that you had found another corner.  This is a lovely tribute to your parents.  Welcome back.  Joyce

Thank you my friends. The last few months have been difficult for my family. It's good to be home...
