A Springtime Show

A golden blanket spreading
as far as the eye can see,
stretching to the horizon
as if to infinity.
Miles of yellow daffodils
escaping the picker's greed,
live to fulfill destiny
for a weary world in need.

No miser's gold can match them
as a tonic for the soul.
No writtn word is worthy
their rare beauty to extoll.
In eagerness to entrance
they have challenged ice and snow;
while winter bowing humbly
acquiesces to the show.
