In the gloaming of the evening,
enchantments doth appear.

The hill alight with twinkling
of a thousand fireflies,
as if a multitude of Faeries
were dancing to the tune
of a twilight symphony.

The bats are on the wing,
to add mystery to the song.
They seem a discordant note,
as if cymbals out of tune.

The fireflies dance on,
a lightness to their step.
A silent summer song,
only Faerie lights can hear!

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.

This is a spritely summer-fun poem- enchanted as only you can.  You told me you have oodles of fireflies where you live, are there Bats too?
P.S. I also know your daughter has has near run-ins with black & white creatures too.

But the fireflies are the most fun of all!

Lovely.  There is something mystical about fireflies.  I don't see them here.  Joyce

I have never lived where there were fireflies, but they have always seemed like enchanted little creatures to me.  Lovely poem.

This is beautiful.   I don't try to catch fireflies since I accidentally squashed one between my hand and the jar, but I can't resist walking among them, dreaming that I, too, can dance.
