SPIRIT

She walks the paths within the woods,
Her feet bare touch the ground,
In flowing gown, and ghostly glow,
She never makes a sound.

She seeks to find her lover,
Her eyes are weepy red,
Her hair, unkempt and matted
Is piled high upon her head.

Her lover died a soldier’s death
Upon a field of green,
Buried in an unmarked grave
No end by her was seen.

In sorrow her own life she took,
She didn’t want to stay,
Just one more human casualty
Of the Blue and Gray.

So long she’s trod within these woods,
Forlorn, beyond compare
Just searching for her lover,
Who is neither here nor there.

How sad to see this lonely soul,
You do but feel her plight,
‘Oh restless spirit find thy peace,
And move towards the light‘.

I be me BUT who does me be?

this was amazing, the imagery was so vivid that you saw the "unkempt hair" and the whole mood was sad on the very first line and kept a beautiful rythm...

I loved this - could actually 'see' the person you were writing about. Good!!!!!!!!

I'm a reader - not a writer.

Know what if you did mark this as submittion to the book I would be the first one to vote for it!.

Beautiful Imagery... And most importantly I can feel it. Thanks so much for sharing.
