Tumultous on occasion
or as calm as sun on leaves
This riotous elation
gives me reason to believe

That in some distant present
as I gaze back on the past
I may not have known enough of love
though I'm learning real fast

Complex in simplicity
focused not as two
Expecting both of us to be
as one to muddle through

And somehow stay the course of time
reflected in our eyes
The knowledge we would perish
were it to be otherwise

The give and take of daily life
intrudes not to our core
We have trothed unto each other
spoken words of evermore

As fades the flesh's endurance
and resistance by degrees
My love for you will true exist
for countless centuries

And as in some long past present
when I gaze into your eyes
I know I would soon perish
were it to be otherwise

Doc, this has such a classic quality...I really enjoyed this piece and the tender sentiment of its message.

A refreshing idealistic view of eternal love.

Just hope that reality doesn't come between the pair in the poem.

Very lovely words.
