Pretty Soon...

Pretty soon I'll be driving away.
There's not a chance now that I could stay.
I wish you could come too.

I'll always have your memory,
but I wonder will it be
enough to pull me through.

I'll cherish every word you write.
I'll sit up and read them by candle light.
Letters from a friend.

What if I get too close to the flame
and I burn the letters where you signed your name?
Will I forget you then?

Should I take a picture too?
Something else to pull me through.
I'll keep it in a special place.

But a picture could fade or a picture could tear.
I may put it away and then forget where.
Will I then forget your face?

Pretty soon I'll be driving away.
There's not a chance now that I could stay.

I really liked this poem a lot even
though it was sad. Wonderful writing!
Take care!

It's up to you to make it happen."

hi Tennessee,

Excellent sentiments here....the sorrow of leaving a loved one stated implicitly through the worries of letters being burnt and pictures being faded or tore....very nice

Letters may be burnt, pictures may be tore but memories remain blazing, Tennessee cos we will never forget a loved one close to our hearts

TennesseeAngel~
I like the way you expressed your sentiments in this one.
I will always believe that nothing keeps the memories better than the heart.

Very good, You express your feelings well in this piece. Although kinda sad, it sturs alot of emotion.
