On an ocean high and stormy
where love tides change each day
you see lonely hearts floating
with broken sails and no escape
and there's memories there calling
from the churning waves of fate,
and far away there's an old love to blame.

There's teachers and there's students
and there's lessons learned for gain
but gypsies with no mercy
leave fallen hearts in chains
and the chapters of defeat
are written on memory lane
and far away there's an old love to blame.

Sceret memoirs of pages filled with passion
tear stained letters in a box made for shoes
dreams inked on promise everlasting
a river of words in isolation blue.

There's a distant fire an old desire
a deep eternal flame
but a weeping wind keeps blowing
and cold eyes hide the pain
it's a strafing mind to gather
and a hard thing to explain
and far away there's an old love to blame.

Secret memoirs of pages filled with passion
tear stained letters in a box made for shoes
dreams inked on promise everlasting
a river of words in isolation blue.

ethome,
I like the way you write. Enjoyed the poem, it has a nice rhythm to it.

oh man..i do so love the way your write...
this is exceptional..
the rhyme, the flow the imagery and most perfect of it all --
the emotions so gentley expressed...
you have a gift for it poet sir...
you also have a gift of insight...
your last several replies to my poems
were dead on...todays especially..
comes from living it ...
not just reading and writing it, I know
take care wise poet

How very sad ethome
Sometimes those memories are best left buried, especially when they cause such sadness   Geez, now I'm depressed LOL

Loved this. Have you cut any records? Put any of this to music yet, if not, why not?

It is never too late to read fine work....this was so very sad....but the imagery was beautiful in a melancholy manner....
