                                           She sits at the waters
   edge.
Like a mystic mermaid
   from fantasies past
Her eyes the colour of
   storm tossed seas
Her hair sun kissed
   sand.

And he watches.

Her siren song floats out
   across the water
Soft and lilting
Haunting in its sadness
Luring him with its
   tenderness and pain.

And he draws nearer.

She walks the waters
   edge
Unaware of his presense
Her lonliness like a
   wall between them
Her pain a shield he
   cannot penetrate.

And he cries.

She gazes out across
   the water
Tears like sea spray
   on her face
Waves of longing grip
   her heart
And unaware she moves
   into the deep.

And he whispers to her.

Step by step she
   answers the call
That loneliness has
   sent her
Not hearing his voice
for the echoes in her mind
And the waves washing
   over her body.

And he stumbles.

Sea mingles with tears
   as she searches the horizon
Searching searching for the
   lost love she treasures
Sinking ever deeper into
   this watery pain
Falling into the abyss of
   forget.

And he drops to his knees.

One last glimse behind
   one last look at goodbye
Then she is gone

And he has lost.

Hey Paula..CONGRATS ON YOUR 500th!!

This is a very sad fairy tale type of story that is so well written with mystic emotion.

I enjoyed it very much and I am voting. I think it is very worthy of the book.
