The Earth Embraced Him

He was born Upon a Mountain high
Everything he is or could be was above him
The sky was the limit
It was there above him

All he had to do was grasp it
The wonder in his eyes lit up the room
The Sun shone upon him
The Earth embraced him

He grew to manhood
Life passed him by
Everything he could have been,
Forgotten as time passed him by

He died alone
Wondering why
The Moon shone upon him
The Earth Embraced him

Jefsand,

Welcome to Passions!!!  Very nice entrance for your first post here.  This was good writing with a hint of sadness at perhaps chances not taken in life.  I think there is an important message here.  Live life to the fullest without regrets.  Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

how sad and how true of so many I've known who did not reach for their dreams ... well said and welcome to passions ...

JefSand~
Hi there !
Welcome again !

This is a nice entrance piece.
We must embrace life to be embraced by it.
Sadly some do not realize this.

Hope you'll enjoy reading and replying
and posting more poetry.

Thank You for the kind replies, being a novice and a little nervous, it was hard to do.

Being a watcher for the past few weeks, I'm still amazed, everytime I come here!

Thank You!

Enjoyed this very much...nicely done!!

Very sad....I feel this way sometimes and it saddens me!!  Living in the moment and every moment as if it the last...if only!!

Welcome to Passions!!!

Life is like a river.  If you stand on shore, it passes you by.  Step in and get swept away by its current.
A great first post, jefsand.  Don't be nervous, I'm sure all you will find here are friends.  A part of life we all need.
Welcome to Passions!

Thank You for your posts.

I suppose that at some moments in our lives, we think too much and forget to enjoy it!

I loved the 1-2-3nes of this poem. Being able to state so simply something as complex as a persons entire life is a talent within itself.

Hey - this is awesome!!!

And welcome to Passions...

Great to have you here.

I saw this as a circle...with fulfilment in the beginning and the end, and how important it is to enrich the middle. Loved it.
