Now isn't soon enough
Later really means never
Clinging to what's in your head
is useless to endevour.
Your efforts went unnoticed
Now you question what they were for.
Just when the chance shows itself
you don't want it anymore.

The opportunities of the day,
they pass me by without a fight
I'll just sit and wait
for someone else to make it right.
Because it's easier to believe
that when I lie down tonight
a light in the dark will come
and make sense of my life.
I pray to God that when I wake
it will all be clear
because another day is gone
and I've still gone nowhere.

Another day gone, and it won't turn around
to come back and pick you up from where it left you
   on the ground.
The opportunity snuck up, and it caught you lying
   down.
It slapped you in the face,
and you never made a sound.

Don't let the opportunities
pass you by without a fight
You can't just sit and wait.
No one else can live your life.
The hands of fate can't be trusted
Chances don't just appear
Another day is gone.
Why are you still sitting here?

Kris~ wow~ beautifully put! I think that at some point all of us just wish that someone would lead us to the right path...and we take the fact that we can live for ourselves for granted. Welcome to passions and keep writing it's beautiful! Love Always~*~Jessica Lynn~*~

Hey there Kandi.  I like how the feeling turned from ponderous to negative in the switch of a stanza.  Again, the idea of the poem was smart.  Keep it up.

Hey Kandi,
This is all so true and you've written it very well.

Ahhh indeed, I really enjoyed this poem! It definitely struck a chord with me, as I have seen so many people apathetically watch their opportunities slip by - (this clashes with my carpe diem attitude) lol. Great work!
