This poem was inspired from two sources. 1st, my hobby, Capoeira (a Brasilian martial art/dance)
2nd, the movie Syrano de Bourgerac, a French film in which Syrano, makes a poem while in a sword duel, and and wins in the end, as the poem predicts.

it's hastily writen but try to enjoy it

         CAPOEIRA:

I am champion of the roda… king of the circle

I see you coming into the roda, jut to chalenge me.

You're swift and muscular, with short dreadlocks.

You're also more athletic than me.

We cross ourselves, and touch the floor.

We then shake hands, and prepare to rumble.

The cheer goes up from the witnesses, from the roda

The drums start to play, can u feel the syncopation?

You cartwheel to the right,

You start your ginga

I cartwheel to the left, and

I begin mine.

You aproach me,

You think you can peer into my soul.

<> your blow misses my face by inches.                      I can feel its intense wind as it grazes by

<> Still no contact is made. You duck your head and my kick sails cleanly above.

<> I respond with a spinning kick, you follow suit.

<> Yor foot connects solidly with my head, I sway back dizzy, but still not beaten.

I can hear the chrorus screaming, anxous for a winner

The birimbau plays furiously now

The crowd grows ever more ovservant.

You come in for another assault, to finish what you began

You, as you dodge, one of my kicks, work your way into a handstand.

<> I sieze the opportunity, and sweep both of your hands,

You fall to the pavement

You make a loud thud, and our bout is over

I am champion of the roda

I am king of the circle.

Max

This poem was very interesting.  I liked the images that I could picture.   Keep up the good work.

Wow.. I love this poem. I love the imagery and how you tell the story of what will-power can do aganst stronger opponents.

I have no idea if this counts as a prose, you might as well most it there anyway.  It's a great poem though...I must have missed it somehow.   Hasta Luego
