Well, I read StarPryncess's poem, Trapped in the Halls of Highschool, the other day it reminded me of a poem I wrote in 9th grade. So I dug it up and here it is... Every day is Halloween, When 9th grade comes along, Everyone hides themselves. Just to feel like they belong. Everyone wears a mask, for popularity. Just trying to be perfect. The truth, I've yet to see. Now life's just a brand of clothes, Or the type of car you drive. It's not about the person, It's about trying to survive. Friend, are never really friend. when you dont see their heart. They refuse to let you in there, though it is the best part. So put up your shield, And become one of the sheep Just remember your real friends The ones you didn't keep |

wicced~~~not only was it creative but it was true...thats how school is these days...you hide yourself putting on an act just to make friends...people wear clothes that are expensive just to be "popular"...well if thats what being popular is...then you can count me out...im saying is that i wouldnt go out and spend $60 dollars on a pair of jeans just to feel cool...you know what i mean??? ~*~TrUe LoVe Is ThE cLoSeSt ThInG tO hEaVen~*~ |

Just wanted to thank everyone for replying...I really love to hear what people think about my works, so thanks again. It is true, yet sad, about how people will act just to fit in. Friends you have known all your life will suddenly change. I guess it is all a part of life though. |

wow! well I must say, I too wrote mine in 9th grade. I sort of came up with mine in five minutes so I wouldn't fail the assignment. Yours however has such a vibe to it. It is all too true and well, as I head back to highschool on Monday, I shall remember your words! Thanks soo much for sharing! It made me realize what a serious thing the fakeness that occurs in HS is! This is definatly scary to think about. Very scary....I'm going to a new highschool in about 3/4 days....thanks for the boost! Well I do know what you're talking about though....it's like that everywhere. Great post! Salma |

This is very very true..but the whole of society is like that. I've written a couple of poems like yours but this 'is in your face' which is effective and brilliant. Keep posting "Controlling my feelings for too long.... And forcing our darkest souls to unfold... And pushing us into self-destruction...." *~Muse*~ |
