To open a hand
in love
is more than one
can understand

To let one fly
to god knows where
you must let go
and die.

It is so hard
to make my heart be still
like waiting in the trenches
just before a kill.

The panic of wanting to run
to scream to the other
that their life is out
and the gauntlet has run.

To know the depth
of what I speak
I’d replace my life
for her without a peep.

I’d take that bullet
without a second glance
knowing she’d live
life a heart dance.

Please come back to me
my one and true love
give me this chance
to step in front of you

my last heart dance.

To W. D. all my love.

Joel.

Joel, such heart ache excellently written.

I’d take that bullet

Wow. So intense, passionate, and self-sacrificial. Excellent.

I guess when someone say's that they would take a bullet for there loved one, most don't really know what that means, not if they had never seen death up close, I have I've known this end result many times, and have kissed deaths lips several times.
I love White Dove with all my heart, and without a second between I'd do it.
Thanks for all the replys. very much.

That was QUITE a heartfelt poem!  Nicely done.  I certainly hope she comes back to you.

We are the hollow men
We are the stuffed men
Leaning together
Headpiece filled with straw. Alas!
Our dried voices, when
We whisper together
Are quiet and meaningless
As wind in dry grass
Or rats' feet over broken glass
In our dry cellar

Shape without form, shade without color,
Paralyzed force, gesture without motion;

Jermiah Johnson thanks guy, But do yourself a favor, don't long for this type of love, when the other doesn't give it back, it can be a pain like no other you have had in your life,
I know. I've trained all my life in the martial arts to ?? do away with pain when it happens, I've been stabbed, sliced, clubbed, shot at, fallen off buildings, etc, etc.,
in demos I break bricks with an open back hand, like I said I've trained my whole life for pain, but non compare to the ripped heart of loneliness. So my friend don't wish for something like this.

Fracta, thank you, and yes I also hope this with all my heart, she is my breath, and the beat of my heart. And God I miss her so.

Hunter, thank you for the light/love, and I do know what love is, exception of who they are, not trying to change them, and the willingness to give my life in exchange for hers.

Thank you all. again.
unlike some, this is a true account of my life, it is an open book, I'm an open book.

I just don’t know what I’ll do without my White Dove

I am new to this site, but I found your words to be a reflection of all that is hard in love...the pain...the yearning...the wanting...all for what? To be hurt? But oh the highs the highs...It is well worth the pain...this kind of love

Paula Finn,
Paula Finn, thank you.
yes Paula, the highs,
You know I've never known lonelyness untill I knew her, and the highs were wonderful.
she got scared Of me? of love? of herself.
She sees my love, and knows it, one can't be blind to this, she is afraid of another heart break. So many men have let her down, I'm just going to have to build up that trust. and that's with patience.
Thanks Paula.
Thanks Paula  hahaha

I love this poem Joel...very strong and intense...you can feel the sincereity (grrr..I wish I could spell) in your every word...and believe me I know what you mean. I've been through that battle...getting past fear and pride..those annoying defenses that I've made for myself... but now I'm onto another one...good luck with your love and you're right...it will come with patience.

Truly an excellent piece...

click, thank you , but she does know what she means to me, she has said I love you to me many times, but is scared of it, she knows that I'm a sticker, no matter what, in good and bad, she just wants to fly right now. and god it's killing me.

Spit, you mean so much to me kid. thank you, I have your heart in a high place.
