I saw a fog rolling in a Meadow,
Hidden within is my Shadow.
I heard a heart beat echo,
Being moved by warm winds as they blow.
I begin to wonder if it is mine.
Yet, I do not want to cross that line.
My fear of the truth holds me back.
Is it courage that I lack?
Or could it be something else?
I check my pulse,
To see if I am still alive.
...counting to five...
Yes, I am still breathing
Ah, I just want to leave
And move away from this horrid place.
Now, it is uncertainty that which my emotions are laced.
Why do I feel so displaced?
Is that me? Am I there?
Am I really anywhere?
Is this all just a grand illusion?
I am swamped in confusion!
I do not know which way to turn
Yet I yearn
To move move forward into that Meadow
Confront the nameless Shadow
Which is me.

What an excellent piece! What a brilliant expression of alienation from the self. I am really impressed. Does anyone really know or want to know themselves? But I do hope it's not about you!??

Lotharingia...
Thank you! No, Its not necessarily about me directly but just how one can question existence and their purpose here...
DeePak...

I liked it too Cyndey. "Am I anywhere, or is it just a grand illusion" I love that, a feeling I have often had.

Am I really anywhere?
Is this all just a grand illusion?

sometimes because of the way modern society works today, i often ask these questions myself.. anyway, great poem, cyndey.

cyndey, those self doubts about self and our place in the grand scheme of things will forever haunt some of us.  You captured it well here.  Hardrock
