You committed a crime and got pinched. The way you'll die it was clinched. They strap you down on the table. Pick up a bottle and show you the lable. You cant make out the name you read. You close your eyes to beg and plead. They ask you for your last request. You think for a moment and give it your best. You ask them for a new way to die. They say thier sorry and you begin to cry. Lethal injection what a way to go. The sights of tomarrow you'll never know. They strap your arm up good and tight. They fill the needle, mmm just right. They poke it in, deep in your vein. Remove the strap, it goes to your brain. Slowly the light it fades away. By lethal injection you die they say. |

What a horrid way for anyone to go. Here in Australia we abolished the death sentence in the 60's. Right or wrong who knows? But I do know how distressing it would be for the Dead Man Walking and his family.... Sure I know he must've done something horrid but death is something we all fear, felons too. Eck!!!!!! I am a correctional Officer and we have that room at my prison I work at. I have been in and looked at how they do it and so forth. (Not actually with a person there in the chair tho) Its an eary feeling I must say Great imagery u used here. A horrible thing for sure...so final that its scary for those that are wrongfully accussed..I just saw the movie The Hurricane, you always think..very good poem about Death Man Walking |

The death penalty is so barbaric...and yet, like many I still have mixed emotions concerning it. For a chilling look at the death penalty from the viewpoint of the accused...and some disturbing footage of the gas chamber, find the old movie, "I want to live" starring Susan Heyward.
