Being free is treasured by
many people bound, including me.
I can travel far and wide, high above,
but still, I am denied my love.

I can talk, and I can fly,
but I can also want to die
no one cares, and no one asks,
no one sees behind their masks.

But one day, I'll be allowed to love
to live what I am dreaming of.
The gilded chains aren't quite so bad
once you get used to being sad.

"Why does the caged bird sing?"  The gilded chains.....  This poem says much about acceptance of one's station.  Enjoyable read.  Hardrock

A beautiful poem, chibi. And the spark of hope at the end gives it the special something.

"For God's sake, he's a poet. Poets are meant to feel miserable. Otherwise, what the hell are they here for? What are they going to write about?"

I think acceptance can be very important, but also giving in to hopelessness is food for thought too. I feel the sadness, but very well written!!
