EMOTIONAL HIGHWAY

Waiting for that special someone is like hitch hiking
on the emotional highway of love.
You’re alone for so long, waiting,
Then in the distance you see someone approaching,
Will they stop?

Most just pass on by
And you are alone again,
In your desert of despair.

But when they do stop,
it’s so pleasant to ride for awhile,
To rest your weary soul and mind,
To experience companionship and conversation,
To feel that someone cared enough…..just to stop.

But beware…..the highway also brings others,
Those who stop just long enough to rape, rob
And kill your emotions.
Leaving you beaten, broken and bleeding beside
This emotional highway of love.

I guess we all need our own emotional automobile,
Just to go cruising………

Yes, we all stand out there so vulnerable, hoping for the best. Sometimes we get it, but look out for the rest. Ha another spontaneous rhyme, I never used to do that till coming here. I like this poem in structure and feel, as always, and you always say something that touches my heart.

the least you can do is let him."

Marvin, another excellent emotional comparison. You are good at these, aren't you?

"For God's sake, he's a poet. Poets are meant to feel miserable. Otherwise, what the hell are they here for? What are they going to write about?"

Thanks all....Uta, I'm not really good at it, in fact, it's not even intentional.  It's just the way my mind works...I have to have something concrete (no pun intended) to compare emotions to.   Hardrock
