End of the World - Sonnet on Peace

I hope you like my little sonnet. It's not in Iambic Pentameter, or whatever the expert poets want in sonnets, but I managed to get something to rhyme and didn't sound too corney, lol.

We sat by a fire one night.
My friends and I told the stories of long ago,
When men would take up missiles and guns and fight.
We could never understand why they did this if it brought such woe.

As the fire flickered, we thought of the stupidity that was called bravery.
We still hadn't a clue as to why they fought and gave medals for killing.
We knew better, for we knew all this was simply slavery
To a world that had a hole that needed filling.

Now we have filled that hole with life,
And ended the strife.

Now we are free from stupidity and can fulfill our destiny,
To live in space peacefully.

This is a very nice poem indeed

Not much into Iambic Pentameter, or whatever it is... just know it appealed to me!

Thank you for the compliments, but I just realized something. This isn't a sonnet! LOL, this only has 12 lines. teeheehee, I must have been pretty tired when I wrote it, lol. Oh well, at least you liked it.
