Friendship Immortal

In all its glorious gloom and decay, Death is powerless to change our ways,
We have been since the beginning, and till the end we will stay

Forever friends, even in death, we find rebirth,
New lives, but we end up the same circle,

Centuries pass, great civilizations crumble, yet we remain.
That, which does not begin, cannot end.

As infinite as the white sands, as persistent as the pounding surf
Lives end and begin with the multitude of a snowfall, but no winter separates us long,

We’ve all gathered to sing this symphony of sympathy before,
Your dream…our dream is beyond piety’s crutches,

We’ve all glanced out the widow to behold some new doom dawning,
And dismissed it with a tired yawn, knowing it comes soon, but not too soon.

We’ve all known the truth, but savored the lie,
It was always the better of the two.

We’ve all flirted with the demon in our heads,
It’s the solution, but no one ever said so.

We’ve all shared in the rapturous sins of love and hate,
But in the end, its as it has always been, and as it will always stay.

We’ve all taken each other’s lashes,
Our backs bear bloody testament to our often unspoken devotion.

You might be the last to return, but we are a circle, unending and never really beginning
For, we have always been.

Really liked this, D, it has a special quality, and the message is powerful "we've all known the truth, but savored the lie". Intense, and true.
