Curl into a foetal pose,
burying my breath beneath the blankets.
Somewhere under, a mute voice
summons a scream, fading in emptiness
as a whisper of still echoes.

Banish my eyes so afraid
for they are mirrors of truth,
reflecting always my shallow shadow.
I retract, held in a cocoon
embrace naked, complete in fragility.

Shudder on a frozen kiss,
strangling me slowly these icy lips.
Lacking the will for warmth
I freeze in my lonely dreams
biting back against my suppression.

I have monitored my evolution
from egg shell to vacant vessel.
Construct barrier walls for preservation,
in a embryo of isolated closer
nothing required safe for breathing.

~Brian,...I'm lucky to have one, and that the night is nice 'round here this time of year. hehe. "Curl into a foetal pose,",...that hooked me in an instant. There's just something so naked about that word and the thought of that position. By naked,...I mean raw. It's so instinct like, and ok, enough. hehe. This poem is tops. Too many creatively written and thought provoking lines to write. Awesome work. Admiring your style. Be well B. *Peace.

Brian, this is excellent, as everything you write is. Does your blood consist of words?
But I do hope this isn't about the way you feel!

Maureen, thanks for your kind words

Starrgazer, thank you.

Spitfire, thanks as always. I guess this is my porch, just a little part of myself I crawl into. Thanks for your wonderful reply.

taramw, thank you.

lotharingia, I think the blood of any poet does consist of words. This is about the way I feel, or at least have felt sometimes. I just disappear into own womb for a while then I reappear ready to face the world. Thank you for your very kind response.
