with misty clouds hovering in a purple sky
the brown labyrinth lays stretched below
extending horizon to horizon
with you at the center
always at the center

"love without your heartbeat--
I can't live within you"

so I run a little faster
trying to reach inside the strange swirling masses
how unfair, unfair

I know what my basis for comparison is
although I can't quite remember--
... fair...

I encountered no help along the way
no friendly beasts
no treacherous backstabbers
no one of import

even in view of you
you dance away like a mirage
the closer I get the farther I reach
and that haunting voice between us
joins us

in spite of everything

"And one day...the whole stinking world would be theirs..."
-- Velvet Goldmine (Todd Haynes, Oscar Wilde and, unofficially, David Bowie)

Wow Portia!  This is indeed a ride you shared with us.  The thoughts, the fears, the illusion, the pain, wonderful stuff here hon

I'll tell you this...... No eternal reward will forgive us now for wasting the dawn.....

Oh yes...and this is worth hunting for...lol...

'I encountered no help along the way

no treacherous backstabbers
no one of import'

Good stuff P...very very good.

'even in view of you
you dance away like a mirage
the closer I get the farther I reach
and that haunting voice between us
joins us'

and this too...

and your last line is a killer...brilliant even.

I am very impressed.

WOW Portia, loved the poem, interesting images. Also liked the signature, glad to know I was not the only one who enjoyed the movie (Velvet Goldmine.)
