If my father could see me now
what would he say?
would he let me sit on his lap
at my age?

Would he look at me
like I was his little girl
would I be everything
in his world?

If my father could hear me now
what would he say?
would he sit in front and clap
front & center stage?

Would he tell me that
I remind him of an angel
and no matter how big I got
I'd still be his little girl?

If my father could hold me now
what would he say
would he say that's he's so proud
I grew up this way?

Would he put his arms around me
with a grin on his face?
if my father could see me now

if my father had wanted to see me

I wonder if he sees me now

*** ps. all fathers.. away from their daughters...
we need you badly!.. Every girl needs a daddy so they know true unconditional love.

What a beautiful message here, one I agree with. Both parents together or not, need to be involved in their childrens live. Enjoyed this.

that was a beautiful poem.. very emotional.  I hear your words.. though I don't have the exact same situation.  Wonderful job.

I can assure you he would do and be all that and more. A daughter holds the highest place in a daddy's heart. And she will surely always be his little girl. Now I have to get some Kleenex.

Beautifully done... Makes me think of my Uncle David, whom I have never met.

redwriter,

How touching this poem is.  My father has been there in my life.. physically.  I used to spend weekends with him, but we never really communicated or had a relationship.  I'm glad to say in my early 20's, we reconnected and`now have a strong bond (I'm 26).  I thank God everyday for that  This poem makes me want to call him and tell him how happy I am he is in my life and how much I love him.
