Lighthouse

As the wind swept clouds
across a thoughtless mind
and as wave after wave
crashed upon feelings...
the lighthouse stood watch
a beacon for those
lost at sea.

And when the eyes cleared
to reveal a starlit night
for guidance to navigate
around an impending mood...
the lighthouse still stands watch
a beacon for ships
lost in me.

enjoyed this poem Robert ... but speaking for myself ... the only ships that get lost in me are 'Tuna Trawlers'

hehe Rex....you old dog you.

I know what "tuna trawlers" means.

You mean that all the emotions you have are caught in a net (poetry net) so to speak, even emotions you want to protect, just like a tuna trawler catches more than just tuna. Once in awhile they catch a dolphin or two.

Clairvoyance has been one of your strong points Robert ... in a nut shell ... yah!
What we do with those dolphins is what gives us character

Dolphins are the most intelligent mammal I hear, yet they get caught in nets sometimes.

We humans do also.

"a beacon for ships
lost in me."

I've a few lost ships of my own, I believe.
I enjoyed this so much, Robert...I always do.

Grabbed me from the first line, and a poem that requires many readings too. Every time I found some different way of looking at it. Thanks for shifting my mind out of its "comfort zone!"

Thank you Denise!!!

It is an oldie but still a goodie I hope.

I really cannot wait until Fall and winter so my work slows down and I have time to imagine new poetry.

Thanks Mark and Elizabeth....this was actually written by pen then typed on computer.

That is a rare thing nowadays.

I think I like the pen best.....the world is too fast these days and using a pen slows it down a bit.
