         “OAKIE WAPPIE”

Once upon a time, so very long, long ago,
      living in the badlands,
at the head of his tribe…
Was a great Indian chief, named Oakie Wappie,
      and Princess Shining Star,
              his lovely Indian bride…

Now Oakie Wappie, was a great noble warrior,
      fiercest among all,
              the great Indian chiefs…
But he taught to both young, and elders in his tribe,
      many old and new,
              of his most sternest beliefs…

Then one day, still in the past, Oakie Wappie,
had an ache in his big tummy,
              and he got sick…
He was sick for a while, and then he passed away,
they buried him in the meadow,
              by his beloved crick…

Tales and legends, were of lore over the years,
      his tribe adorned him,
              and so did every ally…
He became known, as the great Oakie Wappie,
      big Indian Chief that lived,
              uppa inna sky…

Well Oakie Wappie, is gone to happy hunting grounds,
      but Princess Shining Star,
              and kids continue their belief…
That some day, when little Oakie Wappie grow up,
      he will become the tribes,
              most honored big Indian Chief…

So, the moral of this story is, to be a great big Chief,
      make sure you marry,
              a really fine squaw woman…
That shares many of the great burdens,
      and makes Chief very happy,
with all of her many affections…

Hi Bill.....
I like this one, especially after living up here!!  Have met some of the great Alaskan chiefs up here, and they have some stories to tell, believe me!! They don't all like their squaws!!
            Great job, my friend!!

Today is a gift....
That is why they call it
'the Present'!

Hi Sunny,
Just a little something that came to me. Thought that I would turn it into a poem. Thank you for the kind reply.

Very nicely done, Bill. I thought by the title it was about child abuse in Oklahoma...relieved to see it is a very nicely told story
