Trees for You and Me

Squashed into a plastic mold -
It happened without warning
One day just a little sprout
Now root bound and bulging.

Withering and rotting
From the bottom up,
Unnatural irrigation
Retarding decomposition.

Trees were meant to grow tall
Profoundly into earth
Far-reaching to the sun
Historians for all time.

Musical scores with the wind
Leaves and limbs dancing,
Foundation strong and sound
Mother to squirrel and sparrow.

Constricted by modern invention
Created for and by the upright
Artificial transplantation
Is forcing fabrication.

Corinne,
How true you write about the tree. Many meanings and thoughts to ponder.

Corinne~

As I look out across the lake and see
the spiring of the Cypress trees ...
I can appreciate your poem so much.

'Musical scores with the wind
Leaves and limbs dancing'

The wind plays their favorite tune
and they sway in unison ...
a treat to be seen for sure.

Thanks for giving me a moment to
pause and be thankful for their grace.

Corinne, you do the tree good service. We don't write enough about that which helps us breath and live.

I'd love lay beneath the willows weep
to touch the nape of neck whose heart I seek
oh do be kind and be my willow girl
amd I'll hold you tight benieth its lazy furl...

My favorite spot is the park, sitting beneath the trees! This is lovely Corinne!
