He slips into the house
home from a date.
He turns back the clock
so she won't think he's late.
~But she already knows~

He stays up the whole night
lying there in bed.
Thinking of a lie
that hasn't yet been said.
~But she already knows~

Someone always calls
when she's at home alone.
When she says hello
they hang up the phone.
~So she already knows~

He might not say a word,
might have an alibi.
He'll tell a desperate lie,
the truth is never heard.
~But she already knows~

A note is on the bed
begging to be read.
Their marriage is through.
In the morning he will know
~What she already knew~

Hi TA.....
Mmmmmm....this sounds familiar, like I've lived it before!!!  This is really great, my friend, and a lot of us know how this feels, too. I love the way you write, and hope you do a lot more, so I can read them!!!!

Today is a gift....
That is why they call it

Ah, Tennessee, it's great to see you again. This poem, I'm sure, hit the mark with many. Very well done...

TA

Very nice read - don't men realize that a woman always knows when her husband is cheating.  They say they are the last to know, but they really know all along but do not want to face it.  It is a hurt that is hard to live through.  Yes, alot of us can relate to it.  I am glad I stopped by.

Tennessee~
My heart would ache for anyone who has to
experience this knowing.
You wrote a tender portrayal of recognizing betrayal.

It's so good to see you here with us, my friend.
Love ya'

TA, what a sad, beautiful poem. You have told it so well.
